What is a mixdown?

Wikipedia states audio mixing “is used for sound recording, audio editing, and sound systems to balance the relative volume, frequency, and dynamical content of a number of sound sources.”  Mixdown is the process of taking your multiple tracks and bouncing them to a stereo 2-track (or more for Surround Sound) file.  Mixing is a crucial part of your project and greatly affects the final result.  Are you planning to use your project as a demo to be sent to a label, or releasing it yourself via CD or via iTunes?  You will want your mix to be sonically competitive with what is on the market now.  Leaving your mix in the hands of professionals is a wise choice and a solid investment in your project.

What are your rates?

We charge $50 USD per hour and $400 USD for an 8-hour day lockout.  Depending on the amount of tracks and complexity of your project, most songs generally take a few hours.  We require a 3-hour minimum deposit ($150 USD).

CD shipping and handling services are $15 per CD. Rush services via FedEx are $40 USD per shipment.

What does your service provide?

We provide and FTP address with a password to upload your files once your initial payment is made.  If you are unfamiliar with the FTP process, you may send us a DVD of your full session or project. The next step is loading your files into our system.  If we have any questions or recommendations, we will contact you.  Next, we will mix your project and send it back to you via FTP or send you a CD/DVD via FedEx or regular media mail.

What type of files do you accept?

We accept files created in Pro Tools LE or HD, Logic Pro, Digital Performer, Ableton Live, Propellerhead Reason and Garage Band.  Each song should be in its own folder, containing the session or sequence file along with all of the Audio Files, Fade Files, Bounce Files, Samples, .als Files, etc. as you normally would have it in your own system.  Via FTP, all files for each project must be uploaded as an archive (.zip).  Feel free to contact us is you need assistance putting the files together.

How long does it take?

Depending on our schedule, it normally takes a few days.  The larger the project, the more time it will require.

Why should I use Eneonycity for my mixdown?

It's wise.  With over 25 years of experience in the music business, we bring a level of knowledge and understanding to your project that can give it a sound similar to some of today’s hottest artists.  With experience in Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, Jazz and Folk, we understand the subtle nuances of each genre and what they require in today’s industry.

It's easy.  Just send us your files via FTP or send us a DVD.  We'll assist you in any file preparation necessary.

It's accessible.  No matter where you are in the world - as long as you have a high-speed internet connection and/or a proper mailing/shipping address, we can provide you with our services without your having to travel to a major music city such as New York, Los Angeles or Nashville.

It's affordable.  For those who live in a metropolitan area, we're competitive with the rates of most recording studios.  For those who do not, we offer you the option of our facilities without having to drive or fly long distances, not to mention hotel and other normal travel costs or inconveniences.

What process do you use for mixing?

Even though you may be sending us files created in Pro Tools, Digital Performer, Live, Reason or Garage Band, we usually import your projects into Logic Pro for mixing.  Each DAW has its own special features, but Logic Pro affords a powerful warmth in the sound and a massive, high quality plug-in library.  We use the Duende SSL and Universal Audio UAD-1e to get the most out of your tracks.  We also have Melodyne, Auto-Tune and Pitch ’N Time as a part of our system.  Several monitoring systems are used to get the most out of your mixes to make sure they will sound great with a variety of sound systems and in different environments.

Once the mix is completed, it is sent to you in the form of a 24-bit, 44.1kHz file for master preparation.  If you want higher resolution, we can provide that as well, up to 192 kHz.  If you want us to perform the mastering (We use Waveburner with UAD-1e, SSL Duende, Abbey Road Brilliance Pack and Waves Renaissance), we will send it to you as a CD compatible, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz file, processed with Apogee UV22 technology.

What form of payment do you take?

We take PayPal.  Our initial deposit requirements are for a 3-hour minimum.  If your project takes less time, we will refund the difference to your PayPal account.  Please use any of the PayPal links on this site to make your 3 Hour minimum deposit.  Once we have received your deposit, we will contact you regarding the details of your project, book a time slot and assign you a personalized username/password for your FTP file upload.

Where are you located?
